The various identifiers of the resource are located in a top-left frame: the latter includes the ISSN and the ISSN-L, other ISSN (for example the valid ISSN corresponding to the cancelled ISSN), and any other identifiers, notably the CODEN if any. All external links are located in the frame on bottom-left. These links point to:

- the resource itself when it is online (its actual URL or URLs), - other records in the national bibliography of the country, in a digital library, - the record of the issuing body in the ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier) database, - additional resources.

Most ISSN bibliographic data are presented in the central frame. Three display modes are available: public display (with labels), and two professional types of display (MARC21 and UNIMARC). In order to change the display mode, click on the triangle to pull-down the menu. This function is not accessible to Free users. In public display, the central frame is divided into three areas: resource information, related resources, record information. Tools are gathered on the right-hand side. They offer the possibility to download records, report an error, view and print records, etc. [See section 5. Tools for users]

You can retrieve the bibliographic information describing the resource: the different titles, subjects, publishing information and corporate contributors, and the coverage by abstracting and indexing databases. Clicking on the blue links will enable you to access other results with the same criteria (subject, publisher, place of publication, corporate contributor). On the left-hand side, an icon indicates the medium of the resource: print, online, digital carrier/other carrier. There may also be icons in grey colour: if present, they indicate that other medium versions of the resources are available. Click on these icons to access the records of the other medium versions. Update proposals not yet validated by ISSN librarians are marked in red next to the existing information. [See sections 6. Modification requests]

For free users, the display is restricted to the “Released ISSN data” [see section 2.3. What does “Released ISSN data mean?]

The related information frame corresponding to linking entries (fields 7XX in MARC21) is displayed on 3 tabs:

Related titles, resource network, resource history (visible only by Corporate and Network users, and publishers having registered their resources).

The tab related titles provides a list of all the other titles linked to the resource described in the central frame: supplements, subseries, other editions in different languages or medium, former and subsequent titles, … The ISSN marked in blue point to the corresponding ISSN records.

The tab Resource network provides a graphical representation of relationships between the titles of the same family: different versions and editions, supplements and subseries, continuation.…). These relationships are presented in the form of a tree structure, whose branches can be expanded or contracted to show more/less relations by clicking on the “[+/-]” sign. You can move the branches to organise the tree structure as you like. Double-clicking on a title enables you to access the corresponding record.

The tab Resource history shows a timeline representing the chronological relationship in time between the ISSN of publications whose name changed over time. Moving the cursor will operate as a filter to change the time period regarding the year of publication. Clicking on the icons above the tree structure and the timeline enables you to download the graphical representation in 2 printable formats (PNG or JPG), to zoom in/out, and to shift to full screen display.

The Record information area displays administrative information related the record itself (e.g. which ISSN National Centre is in charge of the record, or the dates of creation and last modification of the record).
